Anne Sportun2

Canadian artist Anne Sportun intended to spend her professional life as an archaeologist. Driven by her belief in a universal language of shapes and symbols, she often looked to nature for inspiration. As a jewelry artist, Anne Sportun has found perfection in organic forms. She subtly translates these forms into her work. She places pave-set diamonds into an undulating gold band or creates a disk with asymmetrical sides. Anne combines traditional goldsmithing techniques with the unconventional.

Anne Sportun began experimenting with jewelry in the basement of her childhood home where her father, a high school shop instructor, had a workshop full of tools. When Anne delivered her first wholesale order in 1981 at the age of sixteen, she had no idea she had just started something that would later become her professional career. By deferring academic studies in archaeology to enroll in a three year Jewelry Arts Program, Anne followed her passion for jewelery making and consciously embarked on a the path that would lead her to where she is today.

Sportun has only recently made her work available to the international market. She has long been a highly regarded artist in Canada and has been awarded for her excellence in precious metal work and comtemporary design.
